Panning, Zooming and Tilting

There are many handy ways to view different parts of your model by panning, zooming and tilting within the viewing area. The following table contains the different panning, zooming and tilting icons with their names and how to use them.

Note: For finer, more gradual panning and zooming, hold down the Ctrl key while using these tools.
Icon Name How to use
Select Click this icon and then click on an Entity or on-screen object to select it
Pan Click once then drag the view in any direction with the mouse
Mouse Zoom Click once then drag the mouse over the view to zoom in and out
Zoom Extents Click once to jump in or out to the full extent of the scene
Dolly Click and drag forwards and backwards to ‘dolly’ the Camera in or out as if on an imaginary track
Orbit Click and drag in any direction through 360°
There are two styles of orbiting to choose from: the regular LEGION 3D style, which always takes the central perpendicular line of the viewing area as its z-axis, and an ‘Orbit about Scene’ style which rotates around the modelled scene’s actual z-axis.

To use the latter style of orbiting, select View > Orbit about Scene, and then click on the Orbit icon.

Twist Click and drag to rotate the view about the angle of vision
Rotate about X Click and drag to rotate the view about its X axis
Rotate about Y Click and drag to rotate the view about its Y axis
Rotate about Z Click and drag to rotate the view about its Z axis
